French for international organizations

The AU, the EU, FAO, GIZ, MSF Spain, African Development Bank, British Embassy in Addis-Ababa… Many large institutions have already benefited from the teaching expertise of the Alliance Ethio-Française. While some already use French as their working languages, other organizations are expanding their services to French-speaking countries (eg. Djibouti…) and wish to prepare their staff to the new environment they are going to work in.
French courses geared to international organizations cover all key aspects of French as it is used at work, from conversational French to French for international relations. The Alliance Ethio-Française customizes syllabi for your company profile, according to your needs and according to the students’ level. Classes can take place in the Alliance or at your workplace.

How does it work?

Once you contact us, we will come to assess the level of each student, through a placement test. This will help us assess your organization’s need: the number of groups and the number of hours required to reach the objective you have. The Alliance will then send you a training proposal and a quotation for the training. Once your organization confirms its interest, we will sign an agreement, and the course can start.

French for international relations online classes

The Organization international de la Francophonie (OIF) has been running an online learning programme since 2010. This program has been designed to address the specific needs in French language of International Civil servants in an African Context. The Alliance Ethio-Française of Addis-Abéba is the training center chosen by the OIF for implementing this program in Ethiopia.

The online program is running for 6 months and allows flexible participation since it is accessible at any time, from anywhere, without limitation as long as participants are connected to the Internet.

With reference to the Common European Framework of Reference for languages, the following levels are covered in the program.

  1. A1/A2 Levels: Elementary French user
  2. B1/B2 Levels: Independent French user

The completion of language sequence gives access to continue to next sequence on the condition that the student has followed the program on a regular basis and has passed the final test administered at the end of the program. When there is failure to pursue the program on a regular basis, the student will find himself in the same level as year goes on. Thus, we advise that student should follow the program on a regular basis.

Currently, we only offer this online option for staff members of the African union commission
