Zerihun Yetmgeta
Zerihun Yetmgeta was born in 1941 in Addis Ababa. While attending the university, Zerihun shared a studio with Alexander Boghossian, known as Skunder Boghossian. Boghossian, along with Gebre Kristos Desta and Karl Heinz Hansen (his professors at the School of Fine Arts), have been cited as major influences in the artist’s development.[1] Yetmgeta has taught at the Alle School of Fine Arts and Design since 1978 till the present. Zerihun participated in the havana Biennial in 1991; the 1992 Dak’Art Biennial and showcased his works in numerous solo and group exhibitions in many parts of the world. Zerihun’s legacy in taking the distinctive forms of Ethiopia’s traditional art to another level is pivotal in his artistic practice and to the development of modern and contemporary art of Ethiopia.
