ANDU GETACHEW

I was born and raised in Addis Ababa. I always had a deep connection with art. I studied my basic art training at the Enlightenment Art Academy and then I developed my skills through experimentation. I mostly work with acrylic media and collages and my artworks mainly focus on the theme of color arrangement and Africanism and Jazz music.

Artists like Basquiat are a great source of inspiration for me. Basquiat’s way of composition, color arrangement and ‘raw ‘ way of making marks. This led me to believe in self-discovery and letting yourself be present in the moment, where you can connect with your inner child and be so free that the viewers can automatically vibe with the pieces.
