Tesfahun Kibru
I have tried not to be a commonplace product of my generation, and have used all the means available to me to express my art and individuality in all aspects of my life. This has given me the advantage of being able to meet any challenges that are brought to me. More importantly it has also made me able to express my artistic ideas using any and every medium available. My references, whether educational, professional and personal, will attest to my consistent creativity; my ability to work well with new ideas and mediums; and the passion that I bring to my projects.
The two decades that I have thus far spent as a full time working artist have been spent in experience building, experimentation and the growth of self confidence both as a person and an artist. I am currently continuing my work as a full time studio artist. My works have been featured at several solo exhibitions; and have managed to create a small niche for myself in contemporary Ethiopian art. I have worked closely with Asni Art Gallery, the stepping stone that helped launch my art, where I was featured in several solo and group exhibitions, and where I completed residency. I am currently under the umbrella of local Fine art centre DiMA.
My skills consist in working on sculptures that mix materials like wood, metal, stone, mixed in with techniques of molding, carving, as well as painting and sewing.
